Day 1
Upon arrival at Yangon Int'l Airport by p.m. flight, you will be welcomed by a tour guide and transferred to hotel. Dinner (to own account). Overnight at KANDAWGYI PALACE HOTEL or INYA LAKE HOTEL.
Note * If arriving on morning flight, today, a morning of sightseeing will include city highlights as shown in the itinerary of Day 8. |

Day 2
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a.m. flight to fly to Bagan. Upon arrival, check in the hotel and prowl the colorful local NYAUNG OO MARKET. And you'll depart on a full day tour of the most significant pagodas of Bagan including SHWEZI GON PAGODA, GUBYAUK GYI TEMPLE, HTILO MINLO TEMPLE and ANANDA TEMPLE. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit one of Myanmar's treasured handicrafts, a LACQUERWARE WORKSHOP. At sunset time, you will climb to the summit of a tall, serene structure and watch panoramic scene of glorious Bagan and the sun-drop into the distant hills. Magical moments! Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at THANDE HOTEL (Riverside). |
Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out from the hotel to transfer
to the airport for a.m. flight to Mandalay, the country's second
city and cultural center. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. The
sightseeing will begin with a visit to the most revered
religious monument in Mandalay, the MAHA MUNI TEMPLE. Continue
to MANDALAY PALACE, GOLD LEAF INDUSTRY and HANDICRAFTS SHOPS
those sell wood carvings, Burmese marionettes and richly
embroidered tapestries. Visits are also made to SHWE NANDAW
MONASTERY, KUTHODAW PAGODA and view over the city from MANDALAY
HILL when the sun goes down. Lunch and dinner at local
restaurants. Overnight at SEDONA HOTEL or MANDALAY HILL RESORT. |
Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning it's off to the lovely
countryside around Mandalay to explore two old cities. AMARAPURA
has fine pagodas, ruins of the old palace and shops specializing
in cotton and silk longyis as well as wood and marble carvings.
The U BEIN BRIDGE, a long and meandering structure built of
teak, spans TAUNG THAMAN LAKE. A stroll here is an absolute
delight. You will also have the opportunity to observe the monks
having their last meal of the day in total silence. The SAGAING
HILLS sit above the Ayerwaddy and are the site of crumbling
pagodas and many active shrines. Nearby is the one mile-long Ava
Bridge which was built during British times and was the first
bridge across the country's major waterway. Drive to KAUNG HMU
DAW PAGODA and SILVER SMITH WORKSHOP. Lunch at a local
restaurant. After lunch, boat trip on the Ayerwaddy River to
MINGUN, about 7 miles (1 hour) upriver from Mandalay, with
visits to the MINGUN BELL, weighing 90 tons and claimed as the
largest uncracked bell in the world; the unfinished MINGUN
PAGODA, built as one of the world's largest chedis by King Bodaw
Paya and HSIN PHYUME PAGODA. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a.m. flight to
Heho. Upon arrival in Heho, you'll take a scenic two-hour drive
to PINDAYA. The famous caves are situated in a limestone ridge
overlooking a small lake; their endless chambers are filled with
thousands of Buddha images, some of them hundreds of years old.
Stroll out to the pond at Pindaya's center and watch the bustle
and mirth of the townspeople. A smile is all that is needed to
overcome any language or cultural barriers. Visit also a Shan
Paper Umbrella Workshop. Shan people have had a tradition of
making papers from mulberry barks. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Dinner and overnight at CONQUEROR HOTEL or INLE INN (PINDAYA). |
Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel.This morning you'll depart Pindaya on
the 3hr drive through the countryside of the Shan Hills, past
many colorfully dressed tribal people to Nyaung Shwe, the
gateway to Inle Lake. Take the boat ride to transfer to the
hotel. An excursion by boat on LAKE INLE will include sights of
the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods
of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Lunch at a
local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at GOLDEN ISLAND
COTTAGES. |
Day 7
Half-day visits are made to PHAUNG DAW OO PAGODA, the
weaving village of INNPAW KHON, a LOCAL MARKET in the lake
region (on market days only) and NGAPHE CHAUNG MONASTERY
(jumping cats). Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Nyaung
Shwe and drive to Heho airport to catch p.m. flight. Arrive
Yangon and transfer to hotel. Dinner (to own account). Overnight
at KANDAWGYI PALACE HOTEL or INYA LAKE HOTEL. |
Day 8
After breakfast, explore Yangon city which is arguably Southeast
Asia's most charming capital with its tree-lined avenues, fine
Victorian architecture, bustling markets and picturesque
waterfront. Complete your last day in Myanmar with visit to one
of the world's most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA.
Drive through Yangon's colonial-style city center where SULE
PAGODA is situated and visit the NATIONAL MUSEUM. After a
photo-stop at KARAWEIK HALL, a "hamsa bird-shaped floating
barge" on KANDAW GYI (ROYAL) LAKE, stroll through the
BOGYOKE (SCOTT) MARKET with hundreds of food, clothes,
handicrafts and gem stores. Lunch at a local restaurant. Car and
guide will be on your disposal for further visits in Yangon
until airport transfer for p.m. flight.
